If I Ruled The World

“If I Ruled The World” is a game my friends and I like to play (we stole it from Trevor Noah’s Podcast, What Now?), where we take turns “pitching” to the group what actions we would take if we ruled the world for a day. Our pitches can pertain to whatever we’d like (politics, health, culture, etc) and can be both serious or silly, but they have to be well thought out, and the pitcher/”ruler” must be able to logically explain (somewhat in detail) how the implementation of their policy would work and why they would enact it. Group members can ask the ruler questions and suggest modifications to the pitch, and at the end, we vote as a group on which actions/policies are enacted.

For example, and this has been cut down for brevity, if I ruled the world, I would require every person to travel internationally for three days at least once a year. You would get to pick the days you are gone; the government funds the travel, but you have to travel to a new place every year. I would do this because I think it helps to expose people to new cultures and ideas, and allows us to be more interconnected globally.

In this category, I have written about some of my own pitches, as well as some of my favorite pitches from my friends and family. Lmk what you think and which ideas you do and don’t agree with. Also, I’d love it if you let me know what you would do if you ruled the world…
